This goes out to all of the people who make terrible choices regarding smoking, alcohol and inappropriate behavior.
You are making a terrible decision that is going to hurt your future. You do not need to drink and smoke; you can have fun without it. More fun even. It is a waste of your time money and most importantly life. You are going to hurt yourself in the end. Badly. You have already hurt those who love you and will only continue to do so if you persist. I do not understand why you think it is so cool or so much better, but it is not. You have created a terrible reputation and image for yourself. You have lost people that where once friends and once loved you. Learn to live a good life; you will enjoy it much more.

ReplyDeleteOff to a good start. Address a large group of people in anger and disrespect. *cracks knuckles* This should be fun.

You do a have a valid point, but also an extremely broad point. Saying that one doesn't need to drink or smoke is as easy as saying that one doesn't need to play video games, or go to church, or eat out a lot, or visit the ocean regularly. In the hunter-gatherer sense, we don't really need any of these things. Self-affliction is indulgence gone wrong. You can hurt yourself by delving too much into any interest, really, drugs simply have a lower threshold for bodily harm.
Regarding the "having more fun" bit, you could be having more fun at any given moment during any given activity. Once again, a rather broad point you could say about anything. Being at TGI Friday's, for instance, could be more fun than being assaulted by Armenians. Conversely, doing drugs can be more fun than sitting at home listening to Barbara Streisand music. Enjoyment is relative, as are many other emotions in our existence.
It is a waste of your time money and most importantly life.
To address this appropriately, we must first define what isn't a waste of time, money, and life. Actually, because time is money and our lives are dictated by an expanse of time, we can just simplify this into a waste of time. Watching television, drinking hot chocolate, making a clay pot, or cleaning windows could be defined as a waste of time, granted the idea that everything that doesn't build toward a more enjoyable future or extending our time here on Earth is, inherently, a waste of time. So, if our waste is confined to the idea of uselessness or futility, as you seem to be implying, I suggest you take a look at your life every day and ask, "What did I do today that won't matter tomorrow?" You'll find that almost all of our human efforts can be shoved into the waste bin marked "useless", in the cosmic sense.
You are going to hurt yourself in the end.
Badly.
How so? I'm actually not even sure what you mean by "the end", because if you're referring to death, nothing can hurt you then. Conversely, if you mean that it will hurt you every day until you stop, that can be said of many things, such as eating chocolate frequently or breathing engine exhaust. In the same way that your body can burn calories over time, your body will repair your lungs and liver over time as well (provided it isn't becoming constantly inebriated). Moderation is key in enjoying any activity, really. Too much of many things will kill you.

You have already hurt those who love you and will only continue to do so if you persist.
ReplyDeleteWhy does it hurt? Because you've decided it does? True, conflicting moralities can cause pain and hardship in any friendship, but you must look at the scenario objectively. Do you think those who have hurt you haven't been hurt by your judgmental words and tenacity in the matter? If suddenly you decided that you didn't care if your friends smoked pot, would the world be a worsened place? I think not. Maybe you'd even earn your friends back, and if you already have them back, establish a more open, trusting relationship. Making peoples' choices for them is the worst thing you can do to a friendship.
I do not understand why you think it is so cool or so much better, but it is not.
No, it's not any better, but it's not really any worse. I've told you enough times by now that I shouldn't have to say that drugs don't destroy lives, too many drugs do. Someone's level of indulgence is his or her own business.
You have created a terrible reputation and image for yourself.
The idea of reputation is restrictive to the society one participates in. I, for instance, don't have a great reputation in Buddhist monk colonies. You know why? Because I've never been to one. If someone decides that they'd rather be a part of a drug-abusing, law-breaking anticulture than your simplistic ideas of reputation, more power to 'em. Also, all of our reputations will die when we do, which is actually pretty soon when you think about it. Look at your history books, or wikipedia or whatever. People discuss the early centuries of man like ancient history, when in reality it's only been a blink of an eye since man first stood upright. Similarly, the citizens of 22nd century America or Oceania or wherever people live then will care little how teenagers spent their afternoons two-hundred years before.
You have lost people that where once friends and once loved you.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't you lose those friends, too? Why should they try to earn you back, when friendship shouldn't even be about drugs? Also, based on your other writings, I assume you call yourself "Christian". If you were to really follow the principles of your Christ's teachings, you shouldn't stop loving your neighbor no matter what they smoke.
Learn to live a good life; you will enjoy it much more.
Sigh. Enjoyment is relative. I won't bother to retort, but rather I'll teach you something:
People have to know that you care before they care what you know. If some nameless, faceless pothead stumbled upon your blog and saw that you reject and loathe anything drug-related or anyone in that lifestyle, he'll probably just write you off as a prick and close the tab in which he's reading this, much like the way you call anyone who participates in drugs a loser. Sure, when your non-drug friends see this, they'll pretend like this is news to them and nod their heads like they're supposed to. Go through all the motions, smile in agreement. But you've changed no minds. You've turned no heads. Your resentment remains just that, resentment. It doesn't help anyone. Next time someone admits that they do drugs to you, why don't you just shrug your shoulders and calmly reply, "I still love you as a friend." You'll change the world far more that way than you ever will by sitting on your high horse.
I apologize for the repeat posts and continuations. I got messages saying that my request wasn't processed, when it showed up several minutes later. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThe End - Not death no, although it could be the result. I mean that if they continue to make terrible choices, they will reach a point where they either get sick, do something terrible while under the influence and it will effect their life forever
ReplyDeleteWhy does it hurt? - It hurts to see your friends harm themselves and throw away the plans and future they once had. I also know it hurts their family when they choose to completely disown them for drugs.
Needing to drink or smoke - As the writer I should've put "To have fun, you don't need to drink or smoke" that would've made more sence. my mistake
Losing friends/love - I wasn't refering to myself. I still love these friends and that is why I want to help them and why it hurts me. Others have left them and grown to dislike them rather than love them.
If you are the same person who have commented on some of my other posts, then I have a question for you... Why do you seem to enjoy editing my posts so much? Why do you take so much interest in them? I would think to most people this would just be the silly rantings of a high school girl...
